Facts and Events
Joseph was a day laborer at the age of 15. The 1900 Census indicates that he could read, write and speak English. He drowned while swimming with several companions near the Two Rivers Manufacturing Company's saw mill shortly after supper. He and his companions had finished their swim and had climbed upon the boom to dress themselves. Joseph apparently decided to have one more plunge before putting on his clothes. His companions began dressing themselves, but soon noticed that something was the matter with Joseph. They swam to his rescue but when they reached him, he slipped from their grasp. His funeral took place from St. Luke's Catholic Church. !BIRTH: Interment Record, Two Rivers, WI ltr dtd 9 Apr 1996 held by John K.
