1850 census; 1953 K.gen.bk. says: Joe Kinnick; no knowledge of his family; married; 2 sons and 4 daughters. 1860 census, Concord Twshp, Bureau Co, Joseph listed at age 22 as farmer, separately, as part of Carrington household, with female also age 22, presumably wife, name Amelia (?); (both born in Ohio) Mickel 1978 letter, based on GSA pension papers (presumably) says birth year was 1839, lists eight children. Also says born in Richland or Belmont Co (why Richland??). Also says:Co D, 7th Reg, Kans Cav!! Death place: Park City, Stillwater Co, Montana; farmer, Civil War. From Marcella Mickel: Rock Island, 14 March 1865: "a little daughter of Mrs. KINNICK, living about 6 miles above Sheffield in Bureau County, died in a fire last Thursday aged about 5 y. She was alone in the home at the time with another child, aged 18m. Mr. Kinnick is a soldier." This appears to be Amanda who died, the younger sister is Margaret. Joseph was mustered out of the Civil War service in St. Louis on 10 March 1865. Mazie (Fletcher) Ross comment, rec'd from Violet Lowe, 8-23-96: I remember Uncle Joe and Aunt Rachel (Grandma Fletcher brother and his wife) Uncle Walt, Uncle Jake and Aunt Fannie. (These were Grandma's brother and Fannie was Grandpa's sister) Pension File, Cert. No. 942830, statement dated 22 Apr 1909, lists places of residence since leaving service: Bureau Co, IL until 1872; Madison Co, IA until 1877; Adair Co, IA until 1886; Des Moines, IA until 1888; Yellowstone Co, MT since. Current post office is Huntley, Montana. Personal description on "Declaration for Pension" has: Height, 5 feet, 11 1/2 inches; complexion, Dark; color of eyes, Brown; color of hair, black; occupation, farmer. 1900 Federal census - Montana, Yellowstone Co, Park City Precinct: Joseph and Rachel, with son, George. Civil War Service: Co D, 7 Kan Cavalry
