CARTER, Joseph, Sen., s. of ---, in Charlestown, [died] Dec. 30, 1676.

  7. Because of the wide range of ages indicated in depositions and death records for members of this family, Mrs. Holman's estimated dates are used as a matter of convenience.
  8. One would not expect the will to be written on the day of death, but the inventory and the vital records of both Charlestown and Woburn say as much so the December date seems probable. Regarding the January date, it appears Ferris simply copied Wyman, though no specific source is given. Additionally, no contemporary support for the date in January can be found, and since the age at death is off by ten years, the credibility of this date is called into question.
