Funeral services to be held for Joe Verdoorn Funeral service for Joe Verdoorn, 78, a longtime Sioux county resident, who died Monday at the Sioux Center hospital, will be at 1.30 p.m. Friday, at the First Christian Reforrned; church Rev John Byker will officiate. Burial will be in Valley View cemetery under the direction of the Porter funeral home.

Mr Verdoorn was born June 27, 1885 in The Netherlands. He came to the United States in 1888 and resided on a Sioux county farm before coming to Rock Valley.

He married Jennie Rozenboom in 1918, She died in 1928 and he married Gertrude Dykgraf in 1931. She died in 1957.

Survivors include two sons, Jake of Alexandria, Va., and William of Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Martin of Rochester, Minn, and Dick of Rock Valley, five sisters, Mrs Annie Westerhuyzen of Glenwood, Minn., Mrs. Mary De Young of Grand Rapids, Miich, Mrs.Teunie Van Woudenberg, Mrs Bertha Gaalswyk, and Mrs Grace Bliek, all of Rock Valley; and four grandchildren.
