John Porter (165) John and Margaret (Peggy)Culton setled in Lincoln Co., TN before 1812 and probably as early as 1805. He served as Captain in the War o 1812 under Col. John Wynne in the West Tennessee Militia, aparently agains the Creek Indians. His file designation in the National Archives is: BLWT 38810-5-120. His widow applied for Land Bounty 17 March 1851 in Gibson Co., TN. Margaret Culton died in 1861 while living with her daughter, Mary Cox in Gibson County. John and Margaret had six children: Lucinda, b. 23 July, 1803, Lucretia, b. 13 Dec. 1804, James, b.2 Feb. 1806; d. 1867, Peggy (Margaret) b. 11 Apil 1808; d.31 June 1881, Mary b. 24 Aug. 1810; d. 2 Feb. 1889, John C., b.9 July 1812; d. 10 Nov. 1891
