Facts and Events
Name John May
Gender Male
Birth[1] 24 Jun 1794 Cruwys Morchard, Devon, England
Christening[1] 23 Jul 1794 Cruwys Morchard, Devon, England

John May was born on 24th June 1794 and baptised the following month at Cruwys Morchard in Devon, son of Mary Mary, formerly Cockram, and her husband Robert May, a farmer. John presumably died young, as his parents went on to have another son named John in 1806. One possibility is that he was the John May who was buried at Cruwys Morchard on 31st December 1797.

Neither of these two possible burial records give enough information to be confident which one is him. The Cruwys Morchard burial is perhaps more likely as his parents had children baptised there in November 1795 and September 1798, either side of the 1797 burial at Cruwys Morchard. However, John's mother was from neighbouring Templeton and the family appears to have moved there some time between 1798 and 1801, so it is entirely possible the 1795 burial there may alternatively be this John.
