John Hirst, son of John Hirst and Hannah his wife, of the Parish of Almondbury in the County of York, was born 25 Apr 1802 and bapt 26 May 1802, by me, W Moorhouse, Protestant Dissenting Minister.
The baptismal entry stated that John Hirst was born in the "parish of Almondbury". It did not state which of the numerous townships he was born in. In censuses he gives Austonley, Holme and Holmfirth.
