He married second in 1967 Virginia Lee Lesser. He served in the 45th Infantry, US Army, from January 30, 1942, to September 27, 1945. He attained the rank of Technician 5th Grade and saw action in Central Europe, Naples-Forsia, Rhineland, Rome-Arno, Sicily, and Southern France Campaigns. He earned the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman's Badge, and European African-Middle Eastern Service Medal. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars #2779. John retired from Utica Tool Co, where he was shop foreman at the tool and die foundry. He had previously worked with the same company in Utica, New York. References
