"Death Was Due to Heart Trouble"; John Elliott Was Stricken While Working on an Building at Linden

The Redfield Review gives the following particulars of the death of John Elliott, brother of Mrs. George Elliott of this city:
"John Elliott dropped dead while at work on the Albert Mix residence at Linden, Monday afternoon at about 1:45. He was working on the kitchen roof, which is only one story high, and Tom Hoyt was working with him, but had gone around the building for something and returned in a few minutes and found the lifeless body of Mr. Elliott laying on a cement walk where he had fallen from the roof. It is supposed that he had been seized by a heart attack and fell from the building. There were a few bruises on his face and one arm, and as no one saw the accident, it is believed that he struck the cement wallk on his head, as he was laying on his back when found.
"Mr. Elliott was a highly respected citizen of Linden and this community having been a former resident here.
"The news of his death came as a shock to his many friends.
"The funeral services was conducted at the Christian church in this city yesterday afternoon at two o'clock..
"john Henry Elliott was born in Indiana, and was the son of Francis and Lydia Elliott, and at the time of his death was 67 years, 1 month and 25 days of age.
"At the age of six years he came to Wayne county, Iowa, with his parents, who later moved to Dallas county, where he has since made his home.
"On Sept. 19, 1877, he was united in marriage to Malinda Jane Moore. To this union five children were born, twin babies died in infancy and the other three survive him. His wife passed away on June 17, 1918. Those surviving him are Mrs. Eva Diddy of Linden, Mrs. Grace Newell of Jackson, Minn.. and Carl Elliott of Minburn.
"Mr. Elliott was one of a family of eleven children, three of whom survive him. They are Mrs. Alfred Rhoades of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Geo. Wilcox of Perry, and Wm. J. Elliott of Des Moines.
"Besides these relatives he leaves to mourn his untimely departure six grandchildren and a host of friends.
"Mr. Elliott has made his home with his daughter in Linden for the past two years and a half.
