Edwin F. Elliott was born in Fountain county, Indiana on Feb. 5, 1856. He came to this city when a young man and has made his home here ever since. Several years ago his mother and father died and since then he has made his home with his sisters.
Ed was for many years a carpenter but some years ago he was injured by a fall and since then has not worked at his trade. Of late years he has been in the real estate business in which he has always been very successful. Ed never affiliated with any church but always attended the M.E. church. About three months ago he was taken sick. His affliction was dropsy and Bright's disease. His condition grew steadily worse until it was known a few weeks ago that he could not live long. He was unconscious during the last few days and the end came peacefully.
The funeral was held at the home on Monday afternoon, the services being conducted by Rev. Senseney of the M.E. church. The singers were Mrs. A.S. Holmes and Mrs. Allen Harvey and L.A. French and S. M. Thornley. The pall bearers were Neal Shaffer, Chas. Doidge, Cal Carhill, H. M. Shively, Jas. Dowling and E.O. Kinsey. The remains were laid to rest in Violet Hill cemetery beside his father and mother who died some years ago.
Ed was for many years a member of the Elks lodge. His brothers and sisters who are left to mourn him are Frank of Perry, John of Redfield, Will of Des Moines, Jennie Roades of Copper, Lydia McLuen, Kate Wilcox, Esther Stayner, and Kezzie Elliott, all of Perry.
