    Mrs. Esther Stayner
    Esther A. Elliott was born near Washington, Ind., Oct. 4, 1844, and came to Iowa to Union Mills, Mahaska County, in 1857. She was married to William L. Stayner, Sept. 27, 1868, and to them were born four daughters one of whom dies in early life, and the surviving members of the family are Mrs. Agnes Sherwood, and Miss Carrie and Miss Bell Stayner of Tipton.
    Mrs. Stayner was the oldest of a large family, the other brothers and sisters now living are: Mrs[Mr]. John Elliott of Montana, William at Des Moines, and Frank at Perry, Iowa; Mrs.Jane Rhoads of Jefferson, Iowa; Lydia McClure, Mrs. Kate Wilcox and Miss Kizia Elliott, all of Perry, Ia.
    Early in life Mrs. Stayner united with the Methodist church and departed this life resting in the faith that upholds and saves. The final services were held at the home of Mrs. Agnes Sherwood last Tuesday afternoon in carge of J. Kent Rizer and interment was made in the Masonic cemetery.
