John Eakin, close friend of James Patton, with whom he made his home until the time of his death in 1818, was married in Augusta County, Virginia before 1783 to Elizabeth, daughter of William Lockridge and moved to Jessamine County with the Gays and Pattons. The Lockridges, mentioned above, were neighbors and relatives of the Pattons, in Augusta County. Members of the Lockridge family later moved to Kentucky and thence to Sangamon County, Illinois. One of this family married a Miss Moore, sister of Elizabeth Ann Moore, wife of William May Patton and mother of James William Patton. The Lockridges lived near Pawnee, Sangamon County, Illinois and many of their descendants now live in Springfield, Illinois.
The following is an extract from the will of John Eakin, friend of James Pattons “July 23, 1818. Jessamine County, Kentucky.
