John Dugger was born ca 1760/1770 per his age on the 1830 census (60-69). I haven't seen any definitive proof of his birth place, but North Carolina or Virginia are the most likely places. If his father is John Dugger (c1741) as suspected, then the younger John was probably born in Granville Co., NC.

It is thought that John (1760/70) is a son of John Dugger (c1741). There is no solid proof of this, but it fits. The older John was in Granville Co., NC in the 1760's through late 1780's. In the 1790's and 1800-1810 he was in Brunswick and Columbus Co., NC. On one record John (c1741) was listed as John "Sr" which means a younger John was in the area too. Other than this no record has been found proving that John (1760/70) was ever actually in that area, but it seems likely. The other factor in putting this John (1760/70) with the older John is that William Dugger (1760/70) and Chesley Dugger (c1782), both of whom were associated with the older John, also came to Georgia and lived near John (1760/70).

John Dugger was probably in Effingham Co., GA in the late 1790's. Unfortunately the 1790 and 1800 census are lost for Georgia.

On 2 Jan 1801 John Rollison of Glenn Co., GA, Planter, sold 150 acres to John Dugger, Planter, of Effingham Co., GA for $250. The land was on Reedy Branch. Witnesses were John Moore and Marcia Moore.

The 1810 census is lost for Georgia.

In 1812 Effingham court, a deed from John Dugger to John Goldwire was proven.

John Dugger was listed on the 1820 census in Effingham Co., GA. David Dugger (c1791), probably a close relative, was also listed just a few households away.

On 3 Jan 1831 in Effingham court, John Dugger was granted administration of the estate of Emanuel D. Dugger, who was probably his son.

On 16 Dec 1836 John Dugger made his Will in Effingham Co., GA. He named his wife Esther; daughter Tabilu? Marlow; son John Dugger; daughter Mary (no last name given). Paul Marlow and John Dugger were named as executors. Witnesses were John M. Hines, John Mullis and David Dugger (who was probably his nephew or younger brother).

John was dead before 6 Mar 1837 because on that date in court his will was presented and declared null and void for some reason.

John Jr died around the very same time so their estate records may be a little mixed up.

On 5 Jul 1841 in Effingham court, the Will of John Dugger was admitted to record. Not sure if this was John Sr or Jr.
