Rogers described John's wife, who wrote her will in May 1546, as "Johanne Pike, widow of Witton, by whom he had four children ..."
His will left his estate to his wife Johanne Pike Carpenter.
Note that this citation alone doesn't specify his given name. It isn't clear if it was known or just assumed when Rogers attempted to fit the Kinnersley branch of the family into the Dilwyn branch.
It is not clear how much of the information from Rogers is based on documents and how much is assumption. For example, was there a will leaving the husband's estate to his widow, or was that just assumed based on the estate she bequeathed in her own will? Rogers has been criticized by Gene Zubrinsky (FASG) for reaching conclusions based on too little evidence.
