Uncertain name / Unclear source

A note on the page of her brother John Carpenter (vicar of Dilwyn) claimed that her name was Johanne (Joan) and that she died in childbirth (the source appears to be the work of Harry Rogers). However, it is not clear if there is actual evidence for either statement - the citations from 2 wills give only the name of her daughter. While it is entirely possible that she died in childbirth and her daughter was named for her, other possibilities exist.

She is mentioned (but not by name) in her mother's will:

"I bequeath to Johan the daughter of John Inglis, one kerchief which was her mother's."

She is mentioned (but not by name) in the will of her brother John, vicar of Dilwyn:

"I bequeath to Johanne Inglis my sister's daughter, a cow, a pair of Flaxen sheets, a pair of hide sheets, a little pan of brass, one chardger, one pottinger, one canvas."

  1. The mention of her in her mother's will (dated May 1546) implies that she was deceased.
