Blunt was born in Nicholas County October 24, 1827 and is a son of William and Hettie (Shankland) Blunt... In December 1873 he moved to Montgomery County, where he has since resided... He has always been successfully engaged in farming... January 20th, 1850 he married Louisa Irvin, daughter of Jetson and Polly (Leggett) Irvin.Four children have blessed this union, three of whom are living, viz: F. H., born October 17, 1854; Mary L., and John H.... Mary L. married W. C. Shankland and had two children, Arnett B. and John R. John H. was born August 2, 1872... On Jan 20, 1850 he married Miss Louisa Irvine who with 2 children, Frank H. and John H. survive. They had 4 children, W.K. died Jan 26, 1884 and Mrs. Mary L. Shanklin died Aug 23, 1889. Blount was a successful farmer and was a member of the Baptist Church where his funeral was held. Buried at Machpelah. Miss Minnie Blount who is attending Georgetown College was home Saturday by the death of her grandfather John R. Blount." {Montgomery Co. Blount, 31 with Sarah 25, Hester 4, and W. K. 2 -- all born Kentucky. {p. 300} In the 1870 census for Carlisle, Nicholas Co., Kentucky, J. R. 'Blunt' is 42, farmer with $3000 real estate, $200 personal; Louisa is 42; William K. 17 farm hand; Francis 15 farm hand; Mary S. 11; and J. H. 7 -- all born Kentucky. {p.261} In the 1880 census for Mount Sterling, Montgomery Co., Kentucky, John R. Blunt is a farmer age 53 from Kentucky (parents Kentucky). His wife Louisa is 52 from Kentucky (father Maryland, mother Kentucky). Their sons are Fransis H., 25, laborer; John H., 17, 'at home'; William K.
