Jewell "Baby" Downing Madisonville, Ky

    Jewell "Baby" Downing, 79, of Madisonville died at 6:53 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at Regional Medical Center.
    He was born in Hopkins County on March 7, 1921, to the late Ernest Bryant Downing and Maggie Ester Gipson Downing.
    He was a retired coal miner, having worked at the Island Creek Fies Mine for over 40 years, and was a member of New Beginnings Church in Madisonville.
    He was preceeded in death by one brother.
    He is urvived by his wife, Drunell Downing of Madisonville; one son, Darrel Downing of Madisonville, two daughters, Sue Bennett Gibson and Connie Downing, both of Madisonville; two brothers, Ralph Downing of Boonville, Ind., and lester Earl Downing of Morganfield, Ky.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
    Services will be 2 p.m. saturday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with the Rev. ronnie Hendricks and Bro Dewayne Brown officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery.
    Pallbearers will be Ralph Wayne Downing, Bradley Downing, Larry Dale Downing, Lee Cotton, Clint Bruce, and Glenn Bennett.  James Gibson, Robert Graham, and Buck vincent will be hoorary Pallbearers.
   Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.
