Lester E. Downing Sr. Morganfield, Ky.

Lester E. "P.I." Downing Sr., 78 of Morganfield, died 10:15 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2003, at Methodist Hospital in Union County, Kentucky. 

   He was a World War II veteran and retired as a  coal from Island Creek Coal Co. in 1987.

   He is survived by his wife, Agnes E. Downing of Morganfield;  one daughter, Brenda D. Ricketts of Morganfield; two sons, Lester E. Downing Jr. of Montreux, Switzerland, and Pete Downing of Madisonville, Ky.;  four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nices and nephews.

   Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Mrorganfield with T.A. Prickett officiating.  Burial will be in Odd fellow Cemetery in Morganfield.

   Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. until service time Mondaqy at the funeral home.

   Memorial contributions may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
