Email from Granddaughter J. Jackson: "My grandparents, Jesse and Allie Pratt Jackson, my parents, Jesse Woodrow and Velma Self Jackson, and my paternal uncle, Wayne Jackson, were returning to Austin from a Christmas visit to Milam County relatives when they were hit by a drunk driver. My grandmother, mother, and uncle were slightly injured, my father was seriously injured, and my grandfather died that later that night. He died at Brackenridge Hospital, which is in Austin, Travis County, Texas."

(in paper 12/26/46) in Brackenridge Hospital of head injuries received late Friday in a head-on automobile collision about 10 miles north of Austin. Services held (Sunday). Burial in Salty Cemetery.

He was BORN in 1890 in Salty Comm. where he was reared. Also hurt in the accident was wife, Mrs. Jesse Jackson and son, Woodrow Jackson, a student at Lamar College in Beaumont, who was driving the car. Mrs. Woodrow Jackson and Wayne Jackson, another son, were released after reporting to the hospital Friday night. NOTE: 2 additional articles dated 12/27/47 & 12/30/47 - 12/27 article states he is 55 and the article of 12/30 states he is 57.

SURVIVORS: Wife; 2 sons, Woodrow Jackson and Wayne Jackson; daughter, Aline Jackson; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Mattie Pinkerton of Milano, Mrs. Alice Pugh of Cameron, Mrs. Ruby Luck of Temple, Mrs. Annie Brown of Orange, Mrs. Laura Cook of Solano, NM., John Jackson of Taylor, Frank Jackson and Clarence Jackson of Rockdale.
