Age 99. Died 5/5/1973 in Johns Community Hospital, Taylor. He had been ill for several weeks. Services held (Tuesday) from Condra Memorial Chapel in Taylor. Burial in family plot at the Salty Cemetlery. Revs. Howard Buchanan and Clyde Majors officiated. He was BORN 7/5/1873 in Montgomery, Alabama, the son of M/M. Andrew J. & Sarah Thomas Jackson. Came to Texas in his childhood and made his home in Salty. Married Anner Bell Amason on 2/11/1895, she preceded him in death on 6/5/1970. They were married 75 yrs. at the time of her death. He was a retired farmer and moved to Taylor in 1950. Lifelong member of Salty Methodist Church and one of those honored by the church on 8/5/1971. Condra Funeral Directors in charge of arrangements. (This was a card of Thanks.) "We wish to gratefully acknowledge the many kind deeds and expressions of sympathy extended us in the loss of our father, John W. Jackson. Our thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Johns Community Hospital for their untiring efforts and dedicated concern. Mrs. Jackson preceded him in death in 6/1970, as did a son, Herman. They lived in Taylor for many years. Also preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. SURVIVORS: 6 daughters, Mrs. Bell Jones of Orangefiled, Mrs. Ester Taylor, Mrs. Stella Sheppard, and Mrs. Bernice Owens, all of Austin, Mrs. Thelma Byrum of Tyler, and Mrs. Maurine McCoy of Taylor; 2 sons, Andrew Jackson of Austin and Clifford Jackson of Sarasota, FL.; sister, Mrs. Laura Cook of Salano, NM.; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
