Miss Latimer's Rites Tuesday

Miss Jane M. Latimer, 81, 574 Fairmount NE, well known former director of the Visiting Nurse Assn., was pronounced dead on arrival at Trumbull Memorial Hospital at 11:05 a.m. Saturday.
She had served as VNA director for nearly 35 years, retiring in 1963.
Miss Latimer formerly served as head nurse and supervisor at Lakeside School of Nursing and director of nursing at the old Warren City Hospital, now Trumbull Memorial. She was also superintendent of Lakewood Hospital.
An honor graduate in the Class of 1913 of Warren High School, shw was a graduate of Lakeside Hospital School of Nursing, studied at Columbia University and received her bachelor of science and certificate of public health nursing from Western Reserve University.
Miss Latimer had served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War I, and was chairman of nurse recruitment for the Red Cross in Trumbull and Mahoning Counties during World War II.
She was born Oct. 3, 1894, in Cleveland, the daughter of Joseph C. and Florence Helman Latimer.
She was a 68-year member of Central Christian Church, was a district officer for Ohio State Nurses Association, a member of the board of the American Cancer Society and Warren Hearing Society, was past president of Warren-Niles Zonta Club and a member of Clarence Hyde American Legion Post 278.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Nippell, and a niece, Sue Nippell, both of Warren. A sister, Ruth, and a brother, George, preceded her in death.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Central Christian Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
