Facts and Events
James Elmer Sheehan, known as Elmer, was the youngest son of James and Susan Pine Sheehan. He was born August 26,1874 near Centerville, Ohio, and departed this life December 10, 1952, age 78 years. He was the youngest of a family of six children, all having preceded him in death. In June of 1894, he was united in marriage to Clara Jane Crockett of near Springboro. For many years they resided on the home farm near Centerville. To them were born two sons and two daughters: Charles Dearth Sheehan, Walter Lamar Sheehan, Suella Melissa Sheehan and Alice Cornelia Sheehan. Elmer was engaged in farming for most of his life; his special interest being the raising of pure-bred hogs and cattle. He was the first to introduce Brown Swiss Cattle in this section of Ohio, and took great pride in exhibiting at the County and State Fairs. Through this enterprise, he gained a large circle of friends. From 1925 he resided in Waynesville and for the last several years of his life, he and Clara spent the winters in Bradenton, Florida. Elmer Sheehan is buried in Section S of the Miamisburg Cemetery in Corwin, Ohio, with his wife, Clara, and with their daughter, Alice, and her husband, Joe Morgan. |
