James Rorie was the son of William Rorie and Judah Butler.
He first married Suesanna Buxton. They had the following children in order of birth [order presented is questionable]: Lydia, Judah, William, Jemima, Sarah, and Absalom. Following Suesanna's death, he married Keziah Gordon. The records show no children. At the age of 73 he married a widow, Sarah Duren, and had one child, Louvina. He is buried in the Rorie Cemetery located on the old Rorie plantation, now owned by others. It is said that his grave is marked, but the marker can no longer be found.
