See Montgomery Co, IN Directory pg. 236 for James M. Owen, b. KY 1815. 2 1/2 mi. SE of Ladoga. Settled there 1832. Rep. (Republican). Methodist. This is most likely our ancestor. Likely not the same family but at Wesley Cemetery in Montgomery Co., IN there is reported a grave for Minnie Owen, d/o J.M. and M.J. Owen. d. 5-1-1883 age 21y 8m 5d. Recorded here for storage, but also as an alert to separate data on these families if they are not the same people (but could appear to be the same). Don't want to lose this data that probably does not belong here, but Warren Co., IA 1908 Directory pg. 741 shows a marriage of Jos. Smith to Malima Owen of Indiana, d/o Samuel and Ruth Owen. 1860 census Indiana, Montgomery Co., Twp. Ladoga P.O., shows James M. Owen, 43 born in KY; Lucinda, 37, and children: Mary A., 19; Marthy, 17; Elizabeth, 15; Sarah E., 13; Louisa C., 11; Matilda C. 9; Lucinda A., 7; James B., 5; John M., 3; and Jefferson M. 6/12. James M. was a farmer with property value 3600 and personal value 1807 (one of the largest asset values in the area at that time). See complete image photocopy in James M. Owen folder. 1870 census Iowa, Warren Co., Jackson Twp, Indianola shows his wife, Samatha as head of house (house keeper) without mention of James. M. Owen. Because she has far larger than average propery value, it can be predicted that she somehow obtained the assets of her husband (deceased or what?)

Report: Louisa (Owen) moved with her parents to Warren Co, Iowa in 1864.
