m. Abt 1873
Facts and Events
James Isaac first appears in Marion Co, Texas in 1873, where he married Rebecca Florence Collins; she was from there. In 1880, they are in Kaufman County, about 140 miles west, close to Dallas. James' parents were born in Missouri and/or Arkansas, per the 1880 and 1900 census records. His brother Charly D. is living with him in 1880. James is in Hunt County by 1900, and his children generally stay in the area. Charly is not seen again. Numerous internet trees think James is the son of William Morrow, b. 1814 Missouri, who m. Margaret Cooper in 1849 in Hunt County. This placement is tempting because of the location--there are no Missouri-born males in Texas in 1850 outside of one family in Grayson County (which matches another group) and the only Morrows in Hunt County in 1860 or 1870 are William's children Benton, Jesse, and John. William disappears after 1850, so the composition of his household in 1860 can't be reviewed. The primary problem with this placement is that the one census record for William that does exist places him in Sevier Co, Arkansas in an enumeration dated October 24, 1850. Family records claim James was born October 27, and he consistently gives his birthplace as Texas. Sevier is only about 30 miles from the Texas border, so this is not out of the question, but DNA testing from William's other known children would be helpful. In addition, William is generally considered to be the son of John Morrow (b. 1770) m. Susanna, who moved from North Carolina to Missouri with his brothers in the early 19th century. However, a descendant of John and multiple descendants of his brothers are part of Group 6 and do not match James at all. Census:
