James Love wrote his daughter Jane: "a letter from Joel / he is well, please incourage him to come out here & help Make a home for Zaida [his dau. Lydia] & me / my last word from Rob was last fall. The last from Evin was last Feb." 1870 July 20, Pontiac, Livingston Co., IL. James completed his note to Jane: "Zaida is at work 5 miles North of Fairbury / gets $2 pr week / I hope she in a good place. Stangers to me - they have a good name" Both notes are written on the back of John Wilkinson's letter to James Love dated May 31, 1870, from Santa Rosa, CA. 1870 Dec. 26, Sixteen Mile Stand, Hamilton Co., OH. Ada Wyckoff Hopkins wrote her uncle Joel L. Jones: "Luella* says tell Jane* she received a letter from Mr Love* last week / he was well."

Love wrote his cousin Lillice Jones: "father was down to see us last August / staid a bout 2 weeks and got home sick or we couldent induce him to stay aney longer" 1877 Jan. 5, Lovington, Moultrie Co., IL. R.J. Love wrote his brother Joel: "I want you to come hear as soon you get this / father cant live long at the longest / he is bad / I cant think he can live A weak / Evin has gon to texes [sic] / come as soon you get this / sent for James love to day / R J Love" 1877 Jan. 23, Lovington, Moultrie Co., IL. R.J. Love wrote his brother Joel: "your letter was recieved the 15th / glad to hear from you / you seam to be ancious [sic] abought father health / he Died January the 5 / Was berried in the Kellar graveyard the 6 / Expence $35 . . . R.J. The 1880 census for his daughter, Jane, records that her father was born in Canada. The 1920 census for his daughter, Lydia, records that her father was born in Canada. My great grandfather was Robert Jasper Love b2/23/1848 near Toronto, Canada. His parents were James and Rebecca Jones Dawson.* They had 3 sons Joseph Joel, Evan or Ivan Jefferson and Robert Jasper. Looking for information on his parents and brothers.

JAMES died in Illinois, U.S.A., at age unknown. He married MARY DAWSON (widow) date unknown in United States of America. MARY died about 1851 in Temperance, King Township, York County, Ontario, Canada at age unknown. JAMES LOVE JR. went to the United States when quite young where he married a widow MARY DAWSON. She had a daughter REBECCA at the time of their marriage. They returned to Canada and lived in a house on the property of his brother JOHN LOVE which was Lot 66 Concession 1 King Township, York County, Ontario. They had 6 more children but it is not known how many of these were born in the United States and how many in Canada. Quite some time after Mary Dawson died about 1851, James took his family back to Illinois. Mary was buried at the little cemetery at the Temperanceville Methodist Church.
