Baptist minister. Worked with Rev. James Dunlap, also a Baptist minister, in Western Ohio. He moved from Fleming County, Kentucky, to the Miami Valley of Ohio, in the early 1800s. He worked after about 1828 on the "Darby Plains" near Clark and Champaign Counties, according to a Christian Church biographer of ministers. Probably the "Johnson" mentioned in Beers History of Clark County, Ohio, 1881; that Beers history said Johnson and Rev. Dunlap pastored the Christian Church of Harmony township, Clark, Ohio. The Christian Church biographer of ministers also said that Rev. James Johnson and Rev. James Dunlap were the pastors of this church. He was named as one of her children in the 1823 will of Mary Johnston, wife of Edward Johnston, Sr., of Fleming Co., Ky., and then Champaign Co., Ohio, Urbana township. The Christian Church biographer said Rev. James Johnson was the brother of Rev. James Dunlap's wife (Milly Johnson Dunlap). Was probably the bondsman James Johnson mentioned in the records of Milly Dunlap's marriage to James Dunlap on 29 Aug 1794 in Clark County, Kentucky. |
