How the table did groan and tremble under the rich, good things set upon them, brought from the well-filled larders of the good housewives of the county. The whole day was enjoyably spent by every one of the many there. Chambers Jackson is still in good health for a man of his years, for his has been a busy and active life. He is one of the oldest settlers of the State and County, coming to Wayne County in 1810 with his parents, when only one year old. In 1823 he became a citizen of our good old county and he has resided here continuously ever since, having paid taxes in Union Township sixty-three years. Through life he has been a Democrate. His first vote was for Andrew Jackson, and he has never failed since to vote in that faith. He was a good and true man. Added Mar 2010 from the 1899 book "The Jackson Family" by Mahala Jackson and H. Glenn Jackson, pg 4: "James Chamber Jackson, first son of Ebenezer and Nancy Jackson, was born February 24, 1809; died February 14, 1895, at 7:20 a.m., from the effects of a fall which fractured his limb. His suffering was only of a short duration. The funeral was preached by Rev. F. P. Traltor, at Liberty church and the remains were laid to rest at 10:30. It was the largest funeral that occurred in the community for years." Note that the record at findagrave website has his d/o/d as 11 Feb, 1895 but there is no tombstone picture to verify that. I have used the d/o/d from the above book. References
