Surnames: Hovey, Dane, WarnerClassification: QueryMessage Board [1] Message Board Post:I find references (magistrates register) to his marriage to Priscilla Warner in 1670. There are also numerous references of his marriage to Rebecca Priscilla Dane in the same year. To my knowledge there is no documentation of this union. Always the same children are listed. Priscilla, Daniel, and James.

The will of John Dane of Ipswich in 1683 leaves a bequest to his grandson Daniel Hovey, then under 21. The Hovey Book presumes this is the son of James Hovey and his wife, hence suggesting his wife is Priscilla Dane. Essex Probate 7099.
A declaration of remarkable providences in the course of my life: by John Dane p. 6 has a pedigree of John Dane that shows daughter Rebecca m. James Hovey. But unlike the main part of the book, this was not written by John Dane, since it contains dates after his death, so only represents research of the editor.
Note that Daniel Hovey Jr. married a first wife Rebecca --- who died after having one child Daniel Hovey in 1665. The son Daniel was not named in his own father's will dated 1695, but if he survived at least until 1683, may present the resolution to this confusion, as it is strange only one child of James would be mentioned and not the other two, but much more reasonable that it would be this Daniel Hovey that was referred to in John Dane's will.

James was killed in a massacre by Indians
