Facts and Events
James Givens was one of the Early Settlers of Augusta County, Virginia [edit] Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VAAcquisition of Land in Orange/Augusta County, VA: James Givens was most likely the James Givens mentioned in the following early survey in Orange (later Augusta) County, VA:
Note: This James Givens would have been the only James Givens among the early Givens migrators to have reached adulthood by 1738. Since James Givens (based upon sketchy records) apparently died in 1746 in North Carolina, it is assumed that he did not stay long in the Orange/Augusta County VA area and migrated within a few years to North Carolina. Disposition of Land from Chalkley's: [likely this James Givens prior to his leaving Virginia to North Carolina]
