[edit] ================================================================Oswego Daily Times, 29 July 1907: JAMES DURGEE In Utica occurred the death of James Durgee, proprietor of the Durgee House at Osceola, following an operation. Mr. Durgee was born in Orwell, Oswego County, about 38 years ago and had lived there until about seven years ago, when he moved to Osceola. He was well known and esteemed by many friends, who will learn of his death with sorrow. He was a member of Redfield Lodge No. 346 I.O.O.F. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Harold and Clyde Durgee; two brothers, Andrew of Syracuse and Cornelius Durgee of Sandy Creek. The remains were taken to Orwell where the funeral was held from the Union Church Sunday afternoon under the auspices of Redfield Lodge I.O.O.F.
