Parentage

Some researchers have placed Humphrey Madison as a son of John Madison and Elizabeth Minor, but it appears that he is the son of Thomas Madison and Johannah Buckner. Additional research may be necessary.

• Page 180.--15th December, 1756. Adam Dickinson's bond (with Wallace Estill, Danl. Harrison) as administrator of Humphrey Madison.

• Page 295.--29th March, 1759. Humphrey Madison's appraisement, by James McCoy, Ralph Laverty, Alex. McElroy. Sold to Mary Madison.

• Page 304.--15th May, 1770. John Madison's bond (with Thomas Madison) as guardian to Catherine Madison, orphan of Humphrey Madison.

• Page 108.-[undated, appears to be abt. February 1748] - William Beverley to Robert Graham, planter. On Little Calfpasture; Beverley Manor patent line; Grassy Lick tract. Delivered: Humphrey Madison, 1753.

• Page 416.--27th February, 1749. To John Johnson, 213 acres on Little Calfpasture patent line. Teste: William Long, John Gay. Delivered: Humphrey Madison, 30th August, 1763. [Note: Humphrey Madison had died in 1756, record likely s/b 1753, as listed in record below].

• Page 489.--27th February, 1749. Same '[From William Beverley] to William Hamilton, farmer. 678 acres in Calfpasture. Teste: James Caldwell. Delivered: Hum. Madison, 30th August, 1753.

• Page 333.--3d August, 1753. John Mills and Ann, of Lunenburg, to Wm. Graham, 1753. Buffalo Creek of Roanoke. The Barrens; corner Joshua McCormick; Corraven's Creek. 600 acres by patent, 3d November, 1750. Teste: 'Humphrey Madison'. Delivered: Benj. Estell, November, 1752.

• Page 147.--18th April, 1755. Humphrey Madison to John Madison, £82, conveys two bay mares that run at the Falling Spring, one bay mare purchased at sale of Moffett's estate, and 2 colts that run at George Moffett's, 1 bay mare purchased of James Means, one mare purchased of Joseph England, and other various personal property; mortgage. Teste: Francis Tyler.
