Henry was a roofer and a tinsmith. He made loans and mortgages to people from his own money and increased his wealth rapidly and was able to retire at about age 38. He loaned money to several black families and when he went to pick up the mortgage payment the black children called out that Uncle Henry was there.
He once fell on a steel picket fence and impaled himself, but healed well.
He was known as Uncle Henry to the whole neighborhood.
Harry sold his business to Charlie Klafter and his wife Mary. Mary was related to Fanny Friedman somehow.
