Obituary Bourbon News Mirror dated Jan 24 1924 Last Friday death brought to a close the earthly life of Henry Faulkner, son of Elijah and Hester Faulkner, born in Allen county, Ind March 20, 1860, and departed this life at this hjome in Bourbon township Marshall County Indiana Jan 18 1923 aged 64 yr 10 mo 25 da. HIs death was casued by pneumonia after only one week of sickness. Most of his life has been lived in and around Bourbon, where he won for himself the respect and love of a large encore of friends. He was of sterling character and having once met him, meant the acuaintance of a friend and brother. He was united in marriage with Harriet Hanes, Aug 15 1882 and to this unio were born six children, 5 boys and 3 girls namely John, Vernie, Alva. Orphia, Nellie, and Roy all of Bourbon. He was converted under t ministry of Rev. John Farmer about 10 years ago and has lived to see all his children accept t Christ, who so wonderfully saved him at the altar of prayer. His last public service was one week to the night before his ________, when he arose and said "Religion is a vital reality to me." He came to a beautiful closing and fell asleep in Christ. But shall awaken in the morning of the resurrection. He was licensed to preach at a quarterly conference held July 5 1890 by Elder Snepp, and returned such relation at the home of his death. He leaves to mourn his departure, at ___________, six children, six brothers and three sisters, one sister having preceded him in death and 13 grandchildren besides a large circle of friends who will mis him greatly. The church sustains a loss that is keenly felt, and the mantle must fall on to another, like the mantle of Elijah fell on Elisha. Those from a distance who were at the funeral of Henry Faulkner, held this Sunday were: Anthony Hanes and daughters, Mrs Gladys Snyder and Mrs Henry Digler and the former's son, Kenneth of Ft Wayne. Wm Faulkner of near Albion; Si and Charles of near Albion; Arthur Hanes of Elkhart; George Mowiser and family of South Bend; Clarence Pletcher and family of Nappanee; Mrs. Daniel Nailor of Nappanee and the latter's son i law, Mr. Hostetler and wife of Nappanee.
