Ft. Wayne Journal-Gazette 2/22/1907 CANDIDATES FLIP COIN BUT MARSH REFUSES TO QUIT. Tie in Election of Supervisor Causes a Muddle in Wayne Township. "Charles Springer and Joseph Mason were contented to flip a coin to see who would be road supervisor in district No. # of Wayne township and they did so in the office of Township Trustee Cornelius Gearin this morning, but John Marsh, the present incumbent said he would decline to give up the office as there had been no election. Springer and Mason were candidates for the office and when the ballots were counted Saturday it was found each had an equal number of votes. Both went to the courthouse this morning and reported the matter to the trustee. Coun ty Attorney Hoffman was called in and advised that the men flip a coin and Springer guessed right. There may be a lawsuit to determine the matter finally. in districk No 1 Charles Stellhorn was elected and in No 2, Cyrus E. Faulkner was chosen." Ft. Wayne Sentinel, 12/16/1907 "A report made out by Deputy Trustee Dennis Gorman, of Wayne township, assisted by the districk supervisors, Charles Stellhorn, Cyrus E. Faulkner and Charles Springer , shows that for last year in district one $2,040.23 was expended for road work and $986.64 in road and poll tax worked out; in district two $3,418.85 was expended and $2,475.63 in tax worked out; in district three $1,947.16 was expended and $1,099.51 of tax was worked out. Forest fires during the year cost the township $215.50." Frank Baker and Cyrus Faulkner." Ft Wayne Journal Gazette Aug 21, 1909 Two Suits for Damages "Suits for $500 and $800 respectively, have been instituted by William A. Rhinehart and Cyrus E. Faulkner against the Fort Wayne and northern Indiana Traction Company. Rhinehard says on Sept. 14. of last year, a car struct his rig on Broadway and not only damaged it badly but threw him and mrs. Rhinehart out, injuring them severely. Faulkner alleges that his autombobile was struck by a car, doing serious damage. Somers and Kennerk filed both suits."Ft. Mr Faulkner died at 11:10 a.m. after illness of 3 years. Lived in Ft Wayne until 1913 moving to Rome City where he lived nine years before going to Brimfield. 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. (1944) References
