Helen I. Brown, 95, of Apollo Road, Harlem Springs passed away July 27, 2009, at the home of her daughter, Wilma Skidmore. Born May 17, 1914, in Jefferson County, she was a daughter of the late Ross and Daisy Crumrine Palmer. She was a member of Harsh Memorial United Methodist Church in Harlem Springs.
She is survived by two daughters, Neva (Steve) Kinney and Wilma (Denzil) Skidmore, both of Harlem Springs; five grandchildren, Janet (Richard) Ricer, Steve (Cathy) Kinney Jr., Carl (Peggy) Smith, Brian (Joan) Skidmore and Bud (Maryanne) Smith; nine great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren and five step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee J. Brown, whom she married April 6, 1932, and who passed away in March 1970; a daughter, Willavene Smith; twin great granddaughters, Jan and Jill Kinney; five brothers, Charles, Ralph, John, Henry and Marion Palmer and three sisters, Nina Standiford, Rosa Wade and Grace Clark. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. in Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home of Carrollton with Rev. Kimberly Arbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Harlem Springs Cemetery.
