    Dr. George Alexander Thornton (c1787-1818), of Alexandria, Va. married a cousin, Frances Gregory Thornton (c1789-1828), daughter of Col. John Thornton (c1747-1822), of Thornton Hill, Rappahannock County, Va. Six children were Matilda Ann Stuart (c1806-33)(dsp) who married in 1833, Dr. John Thompson; Benjamin Franklin Howard (1808-ante1830)(unm.); Alfred Augustine (1810-61/69) who married his cousin Delia Smith Forbes (1818-81); Caroline Homoselle (1813-61/62) who married Francis Thornton Thompson (c1809-66); Dr. George Warren (1815-90) who married Margaret A. Hamilton (1821-97); and Dr. Aylett Hawes Thornton (c1817-62) who married Martha [Hudson? c1831-] and moved by 1855, to Kanawha County, WVa.
