    Maria Thornton (1795-1834) married in 1820, Dr. Charles Baynes Stuart (1795-1875), son of Congressman Gen. Philip Stuart, of Maryland. Seven children were Dr. William Thornton (1821-73) who married in 1855, in Warren County, Ms., Mary Jane Green (c1830-1910); Mary (c1823-71) who married c1852 her sixth cousin, George Keith Stuart (c1827-1903); Philip Thornton (1825-62) who died in Galveston, Tx. in the Civil War and married in 1852, a cousin, Mary Baynes Stuart; Martha Caroline (c1827-81) who married in 1856, her sixth cousin, William Edward Stuart (1814-c69); Frances Adeline (1830-99) who married in 1853, Francis Waring Lewis (1822-1913); Maria Thornton (c1831-55)(unm.); and Isabella Graham Stuart (1834-c92)(dsp) who married in 1876, her former brother-in-law, George Keith Stuart (c1827-1903).
