George Washington Oller

George Washington Oller was born February 17, 1880 in Alexander County, Illinois. About 1887, little George was living with “The Millers” in Miller City, Alexander County. In the US Census taken on June 28, 1900, George is enumerated as a servant in the household of William Lawrence in Sandusky, Alexander County. More research of this family may provide information on why George is living there.

George Marriage to Lillie Mae Brown

About 1901 or 1902, George Washington Oller married Lillie Mae Brown. . Lillie Mae Brown, the daughter of Sarah Miller and Leonard Brown, was born on April 8, 1886. They had nine children.

(1) Lester Eugene Oller

Lester Eugene Oller was born on October 19, 1902 based on his staded age of 17 years, 11 months and 29 days on his death certificate. Lester never married. Family members have said, "Lester Oller was accidentally shot and killed by Paul Miller, while on a fishing and hunting trip in 1920 at the age of 18. He died on October 17, 1920. Lester was buried on October 19, 1920 in Olive Branch, Alexander County, Illinois.

(2) Goldie Gertrude Oller

Goldie Gertrude Oller was born on May 14, 1905. Goldie married James McCabe who was born on August 23, 1902. They had four children. One, Robert, was born February 21, 1922 and died June 1, 1971.

James died on December 2, 1957 and is buried in McCrite Cemetery, Tamms, Alexander County, Illinois. A memorial for Goldie with a photo of the cemetery and marker is found on the Find-A-Grave website.

(3) Herman George Oller

Herman George Oller was born July 5, 1907. Herman married Frances Lorene Bedwell Schultz. They had three children. Herman died on November 27, 1970 and is buried in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee. (4) Bessie Oller

Bessie Oller was born in 1909 and died as an infant in Olive Branch, Alexander County, Illinois.

(5) Opal Mae Oller

Opal Mae Oller was born on September 12, 1910. Opal had one know child and two marriages: Arthur Wilson and Ralph Jefferies. Not much else is currently known of this daughter.

(6) Josephine “Josie” Oller

Josephine “Josie” Oller was born on August 18, 1912. Josie married Artie Mowery. They had three children. Josie died in 1986 in Madison, Illinois. She is buried in Madison.

(7) Frank Leonard Oller

Frank Leonard Oller was born on November 14, 1914. Frank married Verta Lee Willis on April 20, 1935. They had one child. Frank died on September 22, 2009 and is buried in Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee. (8) Raymond Vincent Oller

Raymond Oller was born on September 18, 1918. One of his cousins has said, "Raymond, was accidentally killed in 1921 when crushed by lumber falling on him while playing." Raymond, per his Death Certificate, died on August 4, 1922 and was buried on August 6 in Olive Branch, Alexander County, Illinois.

(9) Vay Elice Oller

Vay Elice Oller was born on October 31, 1919. Vay Elice married Kenneth Williams, who was born on November 11, 1914. They had five children, Kenneth Williams died on December 24, 1980. Kenneth is buried in Carbondale, Illinois.

Lillie Brown Oller’s Death

George marries Susie Bell Morton

By 1926, George had married Susie Bell Morton. Susie Bell Morton had previously married a Bledsoe and had four children from the earlier marriage. They only had one son.

Kenneth Oller was born February 1927. Kenneth was the son of George Washington Oller and his second wife Susie Bell Morton.
