Cordelia Oller

Cordelia “Delia” Oller was born January 26, 1883 in Thebes, Alexander County, Illinois. Cordelia married Fred Heater on February 3, 1906. Fred had served in Company F of the 40th Regiment US Volunteers during the Spanish American War. They had four children.

(1) Norman “Duke” Heater

Norman “Duke” Heater was born on February 10, 1907 in Alexander County, Illinois. Duke married Beulah C. Lamburth. Beulah was born on July 7, 1911. They had one daughter, Norma Kay Heater who was born October 25, 1937. Norma Kay Heater Murphy died in Tamms, Alexander County in August 1993.

(2) Jesse J. “Knox” Heater

Jesse “Knox” Heater was born January 23, 1909 in Mill Creek, Union County, Illinois.

Knox married Reba Rowlands on March 12, 1942. They had five children. Two are deceased: Paula and a baby who died as a new born.

(3) Mildred Heater

Mildred Heater was born on October 23, 1910 in Elco, Illinois. Mildred married G. Raymond Grace. They had one daughter.

Mildred was a long time resident of Villa Ridge, Alexander County. This researcher had the pleasure of visiting with Mildred several times as she and my mother reminisced about their friendship as young cousins.

(4) Anna Mae “Pete” Heater

Anna Mae Heater was born on January 16, 1913 in Illinois. Anna Mae married Robert H. Irby. Robert “Bob” Irby was born on July 27, 1914 and served as Sergeant in the US Army during WWII. They had no children. Anna Mae and Bob bought and operated "Uncle Will Oller's " [William Tapley Oller] Grocery Store in Tamms, Illinois, for many years, retiring in 1975. Bob died on March 4, 1980 and is buried in Saint Johns Lutheran Cemetery, Dongola, Union County, Illinois.
