Frederick Whittenburg] was born about 1737 to Henry Michael Whittenburg and Anna Maria Benedict in Germany. He married Margaret Benson on 19 Feb 1764 in Rowan County, North Carolina. She was born about 1748 to unknown parents in North Carolina.
They had at least 10 children, 4 sons and 6 daughters. The family lived in Rowan County, North Carolina until 1781, then moved about 1783 to Greene County, Tennessee. Frederick wrote his will in 1804,[1] naming ten of his children, and specifying the birth order of the four sons. The last name on records and descendants for this family has also been spelled Whittenberg.
Frederick, Henry, and James Whittenburg are listed on the 1783 Greene County, Tennessee Tax List.
Frederick died on October 24, 1804 in Greene County, Tennessee. His wife, Margaret, died in 1829 in Greene County, Tennessee.
