- ↑ There is an intention in Ipswich, VRs p. 2:385, between Francis Sawyer and wid. Hannah Choat on 25 Jul 1751. There are two likely candidates based on death records, Hannah (Proctor) (Pitman) Choate, wife of the Daniel who d. 1747, and Hannah, 3rd wife of the Thomas Choate who d. 1745. The previous wife of Francis died Dec 1750 so it appears to be him, but since he published to another lady 3 months later, and no death date is found for a Hannah Sawyer in the interim, this marriage probably never happened. The widow of Thomas, in fact, is known to have died 1782 as Hannah Choate (according to Source:Jameson, Ephraim Orcutt. Choates in America, 1643-1896 : John Choate and His Descendants, Chebacco, Ipswich, Mass, p. 9, and its interpretation of a death record in Ipswich on p. 2:522 of the VRs) and likewise Daniel's widow d. 1799 (ibid, p. 44, identified to be the widow Choat that died Aug 1799 on p. 3:36 of VRs).
