  2. Source:Stocking, Charles H. W. History and Genealogy of the Knowltons of England and America, Vol. 1, p. 39, says the daughter of "Abraham [Knowlton] and Mary Fuller", Mary was the one who married Francis Sawyer. But this family is the same as the family of Abraham and Mary (Smith) Knowlton on p. 37 where the daughter Mary is said to have m. John Hart. Additionally, in the probate of Abraham Knowlton {Essex 16048], the warrant for setting off the widow's dower names his widow, "his Widow [blank] Knowlton Alias Sayer", giving the much more reasonable arrangement that it was the widow, Mary Smith not Mary Fuller, and not the daughter, who married Francis. Source:Knowlton, George Henry. Errata and Addenda to Dr. Stocking's History and Genealogy of the Knowltons of England and America, p. 21 and 23, corrects the identification of Abraham's wife [now given as d/o Deacon Francis Smith and Ruth Maverick of Reading] and corrects the duplicate families, but never mentions the marriage of the widow.
