↑ It is generally stated that Elizabeth is probably the widow of Thomas Dennis who d. 23 Jan 1702/03 in his 33d year. They had one son, Thomas b. 1701. The probate of the father was completed prior to this marriage and the son's guardian was his mother and later his uncle so no documented connection to Francis Sawyer has been found, but no other Elizabeth Dennis is apparent in Ipswich VRs. Since the marriage record of Elizabeth to Thomas Dennis does not appear to be found, the maiden name of Elizabeth (---) Dennis is unknown.
