    SIMS-BAXTER WEDDING TUESDAY AFTERNOON
    Florence Sims, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sms, and Sidney Baxter were married Wednesday afternoon, October 18, at the Mt. Olive Lutheran parsonage in Graceville with Rev. Lenz officiating. These young people will make their home on the Baxter farm southeast of Graceville after a short honeymoon trip. We join with their many friends in extending congratulations and best wishes.

    Florence (Sims) Baxter of Long Prairie, formerly of the Graceville and Clinton, Minnesota area was born January 6, 1913 to parents Thomas Floyd and Ina Louise (Richmire) Sims. She was the 2nd child of 7. She was baptized on August 22, 1932 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church at Graceville, MN and was confirmed on July 29, 1951 at the Lutheran Church in Johnson, MN.

    She married Sidney Orin Baxter on October 18, 1933 in Johnson, Minnesota. The had eight children, twin boys Sidney Orin and Orin Sidney, Clara Bengen, Darrel, Orin, Jackie, Lilly Barthle, and Ione Borchert.

    They moved to Long Prairie in 1956, where they farmed. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, dancing, walks in the woods, painting, drawing, reading and her family. She truly loved the Lord, her family, and anything outdoors with mother nature. She worked at Long Prairie Hospital as a laundry aid and cleaning person and formerly had cleaned country schools.

    She is survived by her children, Arlene Bengen of Farmington, MN, Darrel (Marlene) Baxter, Sr. of Lincoln, NE, Orin (Darlene) Baxter, Sr. of Long Prairie, Jackie (Judy) Baxter of Long Prairie, Lilly (Butch Blake) Barthle of Alexandria, and Ione (Henry) Borchert of Long Prairie. One sister Myrtle Prader of Milica, MN, 24 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren, also several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, 3 sisters-in-laws, Lillian Sims of Miles City, Montana, Verna Sims of St. Paul, and Sally Pedersdorf of Blaine and a very good friend Willimine Woolworth of Iowa.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney, twin sons, mother and father, 5 brothers, 1 grandson, 1 infant grandson, and 2 sons-in-law.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 17, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Long Prairie for Florence E. Baxter, 94, of Long Prairie, who died Friday, April 13, 2007 at her home near Long Prairie. The Rev. Paul Biegner officiated and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Long Prairie.

    She was born Jan. 6, 1913 to Thomas Floyd and Ina Louise (Richmire) Sims. She was the second child of seven.
