Obit: "Everton A. Fairchilds, a highly esteemed resident of Battle Ground, died at his home there Monday after a week's ilness,heart failure being the direct cause of his death, following an attack of acute indigestion.

         "Mr. Fairchilds, who was born April 11, 1852, in Penfield, Ill., had lived in Battle Ground since boyhood and for many years was engaged in farming. In 1875 he was married to Elizabeth B. Birt, his wife dying three years ago. Three children survive: Mrs. Florence Schreckenghaust and Charles Fairchilds, of Lafayette, and Mrs. Barton Cleaver, of Milford, Ill.
          "He also leaves two sisters, one living in Illinois, and the other, Mrs. Mary Lynch, of Battle Ground. Mr. Fairchilds was a member of the Knights of Pythias. The funeral will be conducted from the Battle Ground M. E. church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial in Battle Ground cemetery." (Tuesday, April 3, 1923)
