Obit: "Alfred H. Fairchild, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everston Fairchild, passed away at the family residence on the Fisher farm near Battle Ground, yesterday morning at 7:15 o'clock. His death was caused by double pneumonia, and he had been sick about a week. He was born near Battle Ground on July 23, 1896, and was educated in the schools of Tippecanoe township. He was a young man of exemplary character and had many friends. He was a member of Battery C, and was very enthusiastic over the new military organization. Besides the parents he is survived by a brother and two sisters, viz.: Charles Fairchild, of Reynolds; Mrs. Barten Cleaver, of Milford, Ill., and Mrs. Charles Schreckenghaust, of this city. The funeral will be held from the M. E. church at Battle Ground tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Dillman, pastor, will officiate, and will be assisted by Rev. Smith. The interment will be made in the Battle Ground cemetery and will be with military honors." (Monday, March 15, 1915) |
