Eugene Vincent Conklin, son of Cory and Henrietta (Stone) Conklin was born on 7 August 1894 in Kansas. He was a jeweler at his father’s jewelry store in Chanute (Neosho County), Kansas along with his brother. On 11 February 1917 he married Eva Marie Sewell, daughter of Joe and Nellie Sewell. Eva, better known as Marie, was born on 5 September 1894 in Chanute and died in October, 1983 in Dubuque, Iowa. Eugene died on 22 December 1962 in Chanute. Both Eugene and Marie are buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute.
