Elmer E. Conklin, son of Cory and Henrietta Stone Conklin was born on 3 June 1891 in Columbus, Texas. By the time he was three, his family had moved to Chanute (Neosho County), Kansas where he remained until his death. Elmer and his brother worked in their father’s jewelry store. In 1910 he was living in Kansas City, Missouri, but by 1920 had returned to Chanute. During World War I, he was an oil operator in the army. He married Dorothy Dumm. Dorothy was born on 17 June 1901 in Chanute. They lived at 913 Larson Street in Chanute. Elmer died on 14 March 1971 in Chanute and was buried at Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute. Dorothy died on 29 July 1990, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
