Introducing Esther "Hetty" Smith of Columbus, Franklin Co, OH_____________________________________________

Sometime around 1810 Martin Luther Hawkins married Mary Sharp, daughter of Elizabeth Lindsay Culbertson Sharp and Matthew Sharp. After her death in 1859 he married Esther “Hetty” Smith Williams, the daughter of Nathaniel W. Smith and Rebecca Culbertson. Rebecca’s mother, Esther Culbertson, was a half sister to Martin Hawkins’ first wife Mary Sharp. The connection is through Elizabeth (Lindsay) Culbertson Sharp:

  • Esther Culbertson
  • Rebecca Culbertson Smith
  • Esther “Hetty” Smith Williams Hawkins, second wife of Martin L. Hawkins

Elizabeth (Lindsay) Culbertson Sharp:

  • Mary Sharp Hawkins, first wife of Martin L. Hawkins

The relationship is possible as Mary Sharp was a much younger sister to Esther Culbertson and Mary Sharp was older than her husband, Martin Luther Hawkins.
